Did you know our congregation supports our unhoused neighbors in several impactful ways?
Most of us are familiar with Feet-n-More, our mobile shower trailer. Multiple times each month, it meets people where they are—providing hot showers, fresh hygiene items, and an essential atmosphere of dignity and respect.
Beyond hygiene, we work to address food insecurity right from our sanctuary:
- Narthex Food Carts: Every week, you can drop off non-perishable goods. One cart supplies the Valley View Food Bank, and the other supports the West Valley Community Center (formerly Dysart).
- Pack a Sack: Join us in the Narthex on the first Sunday of every month directly following worship to help assemble meal packs.
We also partner directly with HomeBase, an emergency shelter and drop-in center in Surprise for youth ages 18 to 25. HomeBase provides safe dormitory housing alongside comprehensive support—helping young adults address medical and behavioral health needs, advance their education, secure employment, and build long-term housing plans.
Every Friday afternoon, a rotating team of volunteers from our church heads to HomeBase to prepare dinner for roughly 38 residents. When we arrive, we inventory the fridge and freezer on the spot to map out a menu. It’s a bit like a mystery-ingredient TV cooking challenge—part exciting, part nerve-wracking, but deeply rewarding!
