Libraries at the Palms

Free Little Library of Banned Books

The Church of the Palms in Sun City has launched a unique Little Free Library dedicated entirely to books that have been banned or challenged in the U.S. While not illegal, these titles have been removed from some schools or libraries for addressing topics like race, sexuality, religion, or strong language.

Rev. Paul Whitlock says the project reflects the church’s belief in intellectual freedom. “A banned book ensures that censorship doesn’t dictate the stories available to the community,” he said. As an open and affirming congregation, the church hopes the library encourages people to think for themselves and access stories that might otherwise be silenced.
