Thank you for being the church. We are a church that deals with real issues, and the journey we took to get to this point is a testament to that fact.
The congregational meeting last Sunday was a vital part of that process. Regardless of the outcome of the vote, we had to go through the process together. The rest of this article tells the story of what comes next.
I try to approach these situations with the theology of believing in a God of second chances. In both my words and actions, I attempt to proclaim that our past doesn’t define us—not you, not me. Being the church means serving, sharing, crying, laughing, and speaking out on gut-wrenching issues, not just the easy ones. It means knowing when to be vocal and when to be silent.
The results of the congregational meeting have been tabulated. With a 94% approval, we have extended a call to Mark Makowski to be our part-time associate pastor. The journey begins anew.
If anyone has issues with anything discussed at last Sunday’s meeting, please contact me. We will have people listen to you and walk with you. You are not alone.
Thank you for being the church!
Shalom, Paul
