August notes from your Executive Board

Hello Friends and Happy August!

Are you also wondering where this summer has gone? We hope you are enjoying the season, whether you are here with us experiencing the heat (and hopefully some monsoon rain) or basking in some cooler weather. Either way, God’s creation is beautiful!

Thank you to all who participated in our Special Meeting on June 26th. We are pleased to introduce our new Treasurer and Executive Board member, Jerry Lovell. Also approved at the meeting was the amending of Article IV of our Constitution, which now provides an accurate description of our Executive Board composition.

We would like to take a moment to extend our deepest appreciation to our retiring Executive Board members Bertie Fitch and John Durbin. Bertie has been our Treasurer for the past 5 years, and John has served in several positions on the Executive Board including Chair and Member at Large. While their presence on the Executive Board will be sorely missed, we are grateful that they will continue to be involved at Church of the Palms, contributing their valuable time and many talents in other areas. Thank you Bertie and John!

In other news: we are very excited to introduce our recently hired Administrative Assistant. Joy Sheridan. Joy comes to us with many years of office administrative experience and she has the personality to match her name! Please join us in extravagantly welcoming Joy to Church of the Palms.

It is hard to believe that in a few short weeks, Pastor Paul will return from his sabbatical. It seems like just yesterday that we were wishing him and Wendy a restoring and peaceful (and fun!) time of rest and rejuvenation. We are thankful to Pastor Jim for leading us during this time. With his guidance and support, we’ve been successful in continuing our work and following our Mission.

And to all who graciously and generously contribute to our operations and ministries here at Church of the Palms – God Bless You and Thank You for Being the Church!
