“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.” Isaiah 43:2
September 2025 brings with it many changes to The Church Of The Palms. In two weeks we will say farewell to Pastor Jim. While our hearts are heavy that he is leaving us after so many years of meaningful and blessed ministry, we also send him into the next chapter of his life with best wishes for happiness and success! We love you, Pastor Jim.
As sad as we are about Pastor Jim’s departure, we open our hearts and welcome our new pastor, Associate Pastor Mark Makowski. Pastor Mark brings a multitude of gifts to The Church Of The Palms (TCOTP). We are truly fortunate that he is joining our ministerial staff. Many of us have worked with Pastor Mark over the past several years in his role as a member of our congregation and participant in our social justice programs. As time progresses, we will learn more about Pastor Mark and his welcome contributions to all of us and to TCOTP.
Another relatively new change is Carrie Rowe who joined TCOTP’s staff as Treasurer in May. Carrie is doing an excellent job of learning the position and fulfilling the Treasurer duties. Her skills make the financial part of our church flow smoothly for all of us!
In addition, you already know that Jennifer Hoppe joined the ministerial staff in an expanded position. She is our new Director of Music and Worship increasing her role here at TCOTP. Our congregation is looking forward to her impact on our music ministry as well as her contributions to worship.
Many thanks go to the Personnel Board and the Pastoral Search Committee for the efforts that brought us to today. And thanks to our congregation for all your support and prayers as we move through the processes of hiring outstanding people.
There are many things changing here at The Church Of The Palms. We ask God‘s guidance as we adjust our sails to our future growth and challenges. As a congregation we will work together continuing to build the wonderful place that is The Church Of The Palms. Imagine! Doing justice. Loving kindness. Walking humbly with God.
