As we look at the world today, the contrast between our nation’s priorities and the needs of its people is stark. We find our resources poured into global military expansion while, at home, the divide between the ultra-wealthy and the vulnerable grows into a canyon. While a few invest in luxury and longevity, the middle class is shrinking, and the poor are increasingly stripped of basic healthcare and their sacred right to vote.
To be clear: this is not a critique of those who serve. We hold profound respect for the individuals who put their lives on the line. Rather, our “disdain” is reserved for the architects of policy—those in high places who play politics with human lives and prioritize the stock market while our nation stumbles toward an amoral future.
The current escalation of violence and the specter of conflict with Iran threaten to bring a tide of instability and suffering to our own shores. In these dramatic hours, we must remember that lasting peace cannot be built on threats or weapons that sow destruction. It can only be cultivated through reasonable, authentic, and responsible dialogue.
Faced with a potential tragedy of enormous proportions, we make a heartfelt appeal to all parties to embrace their moral responsibility. We must stop this spiral of violence before it becomes an irreparable abyss. May diplomacy regain its rightful place, and may we continue to pray and work for a coexistence based on justice.
Shalom, Paul
