When November rolls around, our thoughts turn toward thankfulness, reengaging and fellowship with friends (old and new), and embracing the spirit of giving. Our winter visitors (AKA snowbirds) are returning from the colder climes to the pleasant warmth of Sun City in the winter. Our hearts are full of joy for the blessings we have to be living where we are and having the friendships we have developed here in our community and especially in our church.
In Colossians 3, Paul describes it this way: “The peace of Christ fills our hearts, since as members of one body we are called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you as you help and encourage one another with wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
What Paul would say if he were here today would be: “You have such a great church here at Church of the Palms! Be sure you take care of it by doing your part to grow and strengthen it.”
The Board of Stewards, working with our new Volunteer Engagement Committee, will be sending out a survey in the near future asking you what gifts of time and talent — or even interests — you have that could help us as we move forward to fill positions and create programs made possible through our new constitution and bylaws.
We are so thankful to be members of this church because of being with each of you. And we are “all in” to do our part. Will you help us?
Again, paraphrasing Paul when he wrote to the church of Philippi , “We thank our God upon every remembrance of you, always, and in every prayer of ours making requests for and from you all with great joy.”
Thanksgiving and fellowship blessing to all of you from the Mod Squad.
