Election Day is just around the corner, and much is at stake! As members of a progressive church, we are called to live out our faith not just within these walls, but in every sphere of our public and private lives. I want to remind our neighbors, friends, and colleagues of the vital importance of exercising our right to vote. We can make a difference in this nation and the world!
How does our faith influence our vote? When we step into the voting booth, we have the profound opportunity to answer that question. Can we bend the arc of justice toward diversity, equity, and inclusion? Absolutely!
Our congregation’s mission statement is “Sharing God’s Unconditional Love, Justice, and Extravagant Welcome.” Bringing those sacred ideals into the voting booth means casting ballots that protect the vulnerable, honor the dignity of every human being, and foster a more just and equitable society for all. Voting is an active expression of our shared ministry and our commitment to the common good.
To ensure your voice is heard, please keep these key dates and deadlines for Maricopa County in mind:
- October 5th: The last day to register to vote.
- October 23rd: The last day to request a ballot by mail.
- October 27th: The last day to mail back your ballot.
- Tuesday, November 3rd: The day to vote in person.
If you need a ride to your polling site, please call our church office and we will help you.
Let us approach this election with a deep sense of hope, responsibility, and love. May our votes reflect our prayer for a more just, inclusive, and compassionate world.
Shalom, Paul
