A Growing Vision for Our Community
At our last gathering, we discussed how the Conversation Café has evolved from a LGBTQ+ focus group to a space for meaningful dialogue and action, with a growing focus on turning shared ideas into tangible impact across our community, with a continued commitment to being inclusive of all marginalized groups, with intentional focus on historically excluded communities. We are currently considering a new name and different structure to better reflect our expanding mission: Community Conversation Café.
Compassion in Action
We are thrilled to announce the formation of the Compassion & Care Committee. Comprised of 6–7 dedicated attendees from our Café, this group’s mission is to translate our shared ideas into tangible action and support across all our initiatives, beginning with food security and support.
Initiative Highlights
Building an Inclusive Space
Lead: Georgia Feiste
- Listening with Heart: We are continuing our focus on “Deep Listening” as a core practice.
- Reaching Out: We see a wonderful opportunity to grow our circle through social media and Facebook events.
- Welcoming Settings: To ensure everyone feels comfortable and at home, we are prioritizing gatherings in neutral, accessible neighborhood settings.
Food Security & Support
Lead: Compassion & Care Committee
- Nourishing Connections: We are partnering with West Valley organizations to provide food delivery support.
- Supporting Everyone: Our focus remains on reaching those who may feel hesitant to leave their homes, as well as ensuring our unhoused neighbors are included in our outreach.
Resilience & Learning
- Deep Listening Training: Currently in development, this workshop is a collaboration between Georgia Feiste and Martin Meadows (LLL Committee).
- Truth & Dialogue: We are exploring new resources, including materials from The Independent, to enrich our upcoming dialogue series.
Leading with Compassion
Lead: Jessica Hermann / Executive Board
- We remain committed to the simple but powerful act of leading with compassion in all our public interactions.
