The beginning of June marks the seventh anniversary of being pastor at The Palms. So many memories come flooding up as I reflect upon this anniversary. I am amazed at the ministry God has done with us – it’s not you or me – but God’s Spirit working through us.
Here’s a top 10 list plus three (in no particular order) of highlights for me:
- The ordinations of Pastor Jim, Debby, and Shea!
- Bringing Pastor Jim on staff full time!
- Solar Panels / Creation Justice Ministry!
- New organ!
- Building updates: Narthex doors, security system, office updates!
- Ministry with the Homeless – Feet-N-More Shower Trailer & I-Help Program!
- Living out our Open and Affirming status – Flying the rainbow flag & our ministry with our LGBTQ+ siblings!
- Art: Labyrinths, fountain patio!
- New bus!
- Becoming a WISE Congregation!
- Doubling our endowments!
- Expansion of our Social Justice Ministry!
- Sabbaticals for Pastor Jim and for me!
That’s being the church! Good job, Church of the Palms. I am so very proud of you. Now, what will the next seven years bring? I can’t wait to find out!
