There is a good reason that construction workers wear hard hats: to protect their health. It may give them hat-hair, be bothersome, uncomfortable, and or a burden, but it is necessary.
We aren’t quite going to be requiring a hard hat along with our mask mandate, but we’re going to be a construction zone as we update and make our buildings more energy-efficient.
Here’s a thumbnail sketch of projects that we are endeavoring to start and or finish up:
- Our final parts for our solar panels have come in! Hooray! Now we await APS and their approval. Hopefully we will save on our electric bill soon!
- The bus’ catalytic converter was stolen! We have made the repair and it is purring right along once again. Thanks to Jerry Lovell for his help in this matter. We are having a person circle the parking lot during worship to protect vehicles.
- We’re securing bids for replacing our six individual a/c units, which are 20+ years old. These units serve the chapel / Behle Resource Center, kitchen, board room, music room, hallway / front office, and the pastoral offices.
- New roof (all the parts not covered with solar panels).
- Increased security; cameras will be added to cover the parking lot, both vehicle entrances, and the area where our shed currently is placed.
- We hope to announce a new organist / accompanist soon. Interviews are happening.
- We’ll be bringing in a financial secretary to help us in the office regarding issues around counting, depositing, check writing, etc.
- Lindsey, our Office Manager, has had her role increased to include the management of our sign and a couple of digital aspects of our worship service.
So, get out your hard hat. To protect our church’s long-term health, we are preparing her for the next and the next generations.
Shalom, Paul
