How can we know the way?

I have often said that our faith and the scriptures are not a rigid roadmap, but a compass. While maps quickly become obsolete as the landscape shifts, a compass consistently points us toward justice and love. In John’s gospel, Thomas asks the question we all feel in our bones during seasons of upheaval: “How can we know the way?”

When the world turns upside down, we need more than directions; we need a grounding center. This Sunday, we will explore the power of the personal mantra. By distilling our core values—liberation, equity, and radical compassion—into a guiding phrase, we create a tool to employ when life feels extra stressful. Using our hearts and our brains while raising our courage, we can navigate the storms of systemic injustice without losing our heading. Join us as we learn to stay oriented toward the “Way” of peace, even when the path is yet unmade.

Shalom, Paul
