Valentines Day đź’ť twist on 1 Corinthians 13

In our pursuit of a more just world, we often lean on policy and protest—vital tools for change. Yet, 1 Corinthians 13 reminds us that even the most righteous activism, if it lacks love, is merely “a noisy gong.”

In a progressive context, love is not a passive sentiment; it is a restorative force. Love is patient with the complexities of human growth, but it does not rejoice in systemic wrongdoing. It “bears all things” by standing in solidarity with the marginalized, and it “hopes all things” by refusing to accept that the status quo is final.

Prophecies of a better future and the knowledge of academic theories will eventually pass away. What remains is the labor of love that sees the “face of God” in our neighbors. Let us be a community where our passion for justice is fueled by a love that never fails.

Shalom, Paul
